Don’t fall
1Corinthians 10:12 Wherefore let Him that thinketh He standeth take heed lest He fall.
(KJV)
One afternoon I
was engaged in a conversation with a young beautiful lady in the ministry. She explained to me how easy the
tendency was for one going in for a song ministration (or any other
ministration) to become full of oneself and overly confident of their musical
prowess and the possession of an angelic voice or the possession of an
unmatched ability. This causes ministers
to almost have no reverence for the fact that ministrations are to God and it
is He that grants the grace to do that which we do all the time.
Romans 9:16 So then it is not of Him that willeth, nor of Him that runneth, but of God that
sheweth mercy (KJV).
The Bible in Basic
English adds more meaning
Romans 9:16 (BBE)
So then, it is not by the desire or by
the attempt of man, but by the mercy of God.
Whatever service
we do in the ministry, the success attained from the word go has been by the
hand of God.
Not by our
desire for the work of God or our willingness to do it, nor by our attempt to
run the race. It has always been God from the beginning. You find yourself
doing what you are doing at this point in time for God, because it has been his
choice. God had carefully considered you doing this for Him at this time. No
extra human-borne effort had a hand in it. It has solely been God.
Romans 9:16 So
then God’s choice is not dependent
on human will, nor on human effort [the totality of human striving], but on God
who shows mercy [to whomever He chooses—it is His sovereign gift] (AMP).
He chose you for this. You are what the world has been waiting for to
fulfil this. So you better stand well.
You will not want to fail God. Relying on Him to finish a good work in
you. Fighting hard to stay under his feet and eating of his table. Eschewing
pride and arrogance. You will want to do well to let the gospel go far, even to
the ends of the world.
Romans 9:17 For the scripture saith unto
Pharaoh, Even for this same purpose have
I raised thee up, that I might shew
my power in thee, and that my name
might be declared throughout all the earth. (KJV)
Stand well! Beware! Stay careful! Be alert! See! The enemy is lurking around to
steal these opportunities from you. Remember how Herod became too full of
himself and was struck by the angel for taking praises not his? (Acts 12)
Don’t take praise for what God gives you. DO IT FOR HIM AND WITH HIM.
Just as it is exciting to know that you have been chosen and prepared for
this. Likewise it is refreshing to note that he is ready to grace you with the
strength and ability to perform and important to know that you don’t have it
all if you lose contact from He that chose to prepare you.
Colossians 3:23
And whatsoever ye do, do [it] heartily, as
to the Lord, and not unto men; (KJV)
I want to encourage us today that we guard this business of the father
with all our heart. Waiting on Him to take us where He wants to by Staying
connected to Him. Sticking with our first love. Tying our robes to his, for we can’t
rely on any man… not even our own weak, failing, unreliable self. We cannot favour God or do Him a favour. He is
our Favour!!

Let us be careful to stand on this One Solid Rock. When the tides of this
earth rise against us, and holding onto the riggings yields no result, take
time to wait on Him. Pray that He leads you in all that service you render. Let
your power be a terra incognita while his power may be made known by you: thus
how to soar higher and higher that you do not fall.
Stand. Stand on the rock. All other places you stand are quickly sinking.
Stand on Jesus (Luke 6:48).
DO IT FOR HIM AND WITH HIM.
Take heed and don’t fall.
All glory to Jesus.
God bless you
In Jesus Name, Amen
